Program Associate – Recruitment & Outreach
We are looking for an exceptionally organized, charismatic and self-starting Program Associate to lead our aggressive outreach and recruitment strategy. The Program Associate will join a fast-paced and high-energy work environment, and will play a lead role in conducting outreach and managing communication with parents, students and educators throughout the 2010 application cycle.
Job Responsibilities
The Program Associate will be responsible for implementing a national recruitment strategy to meet the organization’s ambitious recruitment goals for the 2010-11 year. Specific responsibilities may vary over time, and will include:
- Manage roll-out of a national strategy to recruit a broad and diverse portfolio of applicants for Global Citizen Year
- Establish and maintain relationships with key allies including college counselors, high school administrators, student/teacher/parent groups, and college admissions offices
- Organize and lead presentations and recruiting events at schools across the country
- Support applicants & parents throughout the application process – responding to emails, inquiries and other requests as needed
- Organize application review and nation-wide interview process
- Support applicant selection and on-boarding process
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate for this position is a high-achieving generalist with a Bachelor’s degree and 1-3 years work experience. Additionally, the candidate will have the following skills and characteristics:
- Quick learner who is meticulously detail-oriented and produces high-quality work
- Self-starter who works independently, and organizes time and priorities to meet deadlines
- Exceptional communicator (writing, speaking, presenting)
- Command of all Microsoft programs and experience with database management
- Demonstrated ability planning and running campaigns and events
- Willingness to go above and beyond no matter what the task
- Thrives in an entrepreneurial environment, and is energetic, resourceful, and flexible
- Sense of humor and ability to laugh at oneself
- Passion for the Global Citizen Year mission and vision
The following are a plus, but not required:
- Work experience in education, youth development and international exchange
- Experience living and working in the developing world
Compensation and Terms
This is a full-time position based in San Francisco which will require significant travel. The 6-month contract will run from December 2009 – May 2010, with the possibility for extension based on funding & mutual fit.
