Still watering that grass…..
“The grass isn’t always greener on the other side but it is where you water it” team leader Mika gave us this quote in ICO (In country orientation) I feel a little conflicted by this quote because I know the grass is greener on the other side. I know because I was the one who watered and cared for it! I was given a patch of grass and I finally made it green. I finally figured out how much water I needed to use, and how frequently I needed to water it. It wasn’t easy sometimes I overwatered it and sometimes I didn’t water it enough. With that failure came clarity and knowledge that led to a beautiful lush field of grass. It took longer then expected but I achieved the results I wanted. I began to plant my roots. Then out of nowhere was yanked out and placed in a new patch of grass. I am no longer in a field just a small patch of grass. Every part me has the urge to look over to the other side of the fence because I know it’s greener there I know because I’d made it green. But by doing so I would be neglecting my current patch and it will die and if it dies so will I. So I realize I need to be in the present and not the past. I will make a new field. I will be forever grateful for my last field and maybe it will help make this new one I want to create easier since I’ve been through the process before. So my twist to this quote is “The grass may be greener on the other side, you may have been the one who cared for it but so could any patch of grass your given don’t let the past make you neglect the present if you ignore your grass, it will die and so will you so water your grass make it green and start to build your new field.”- Kamilah Lewis
