In search of a new home

I consider myself fortunate because I have had the opportunity to live in three very different places so far. And even more so because each place grew special enough to me that I can now call each one of them my home. Every time I moved away was extremely challenging, however, each move was a learning experience that I wouldn’t trade for anything in the world. There is a very unique feeling that comes along with arriving in a brand new place. You can be anyone you want to be, do whatever you desire and make friends with whoever you’d like. It is up to you what you make of your stay, and (as corny and cliché as it may sound) this rawness is what allowed me to find myself and molded me into the person I am today.

In almost one week I will be embarking on a whole new journey, but this time to Brazil. Not only am I moving to a country I have never visited before, but to a whole new continent. If you are reading this you are probably wondering why on Earth would I want to move to a country I have never been to and live in a stranger’s home for eight months. Well, when people ask me this I usually give them a really vague answer answer in order to spare them a rant about my whole life. But the truth is that I am mainly doing this for me. I believe that taking a bridge year before attending college will help me figure out what I want to do with my life as well as aid in my self growth. As I previously stated, the times that I have learned the most about myself have been when I have been forced out of my comfort zone and eventually learned to adjust to a new home. I am hoping that this bizarre experience will make me a thousand times more cultured, driven, and confident.

I do not know how this new life will change me or what I will learn along the way, however, I do know that moving to Brazil will help me discover a whole new person within me. I am beyond excited to embark on this journey and I want to thank, from the bottom of my heart, all the incredibly amazing people in my life who are supporting me through it. Huge shoutout to my parents, the effort that you are putting so that my dream comes true does not go unnoticed!
